MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital Celebrates The Power of Rehabilitation During National Rehabilitation Week

MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital Celebrates The Power of Rehabilitation During National Rehabilitation WeekNational Rehabilitation Week is observed September 17-23, 2017, and highlights the importance of rehabilitation, patient successes as well as the clinicians providing the care to get patients back to doing the things they love. During this week, MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital joins hospitals across the country to celebrate “The Power of Independence,” focusing on rehabilitation medicine and the many patients who have regained independence because of it.

Whether a patient is recovering from a condition such as stroke or another neurological disorder, complex orthopedic injuries, cardiac or pulmonary conditions, amputation, brain or spinal cord injuries, MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital staff works individually with each patient to customize a plan that helps the patient reach his or her most optimal level of independence.

Our Innovative Methods Help
Patients Achieve a Higher Level of Care
MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital applies some of the most innovative methods to encourage a higher level of care and outcomes to its patients:

Team Approach: MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital’s unique approach to rehabilitation involves a team of experts with extensive experience in today’s most advanced therapeutic techniques and technologies. Depending on the patient’s condition being treated, a care team can include a case manager, occupational therapists, physical therapists, nurses specializing in rehabilitation, physicians* with experience in rehabilitation medicine, respiratory therapists and speech-language therapists. The team develops treatment plans for physical, cognitive and emotional needs.

Targeted Treatment Plans: Patients are evaluated by the hospital’s team of rehabilitation professionals. Each patient’s treatment plan is designed to accomplish his or her therapeutic goals through a sequence of measurable and achievable steps. MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital programs include at least 15 hours of therapy a week. Registered nurses are available 24 hours a day to ensure patients receive the constant care they need, and physicians make frequent visits each week, keeping goals on track and independence in sight.

Advanced Rehabilitation Technology: All of healthcare is technology driven – especially rehabilitation. For a stronger, quicker and safer recovery, MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital incorporates the most innovative technology into a patient’s therapy sessions.

Continuum of Care: When a patient is healing in the comforts of home, but needs to regain function and independence, MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital’s outpatient rehabilitation services provide the same high level of care as its hospital on an as-needed basis. Our outpatient rehabilitation team creates individualized treatment plans lasting 30 to 60 minutes each to help achieve each patient’s best outcome.

Support Groups: MidAmerica Rehabilitation Hospital is committed to helping patients feel comfortable with reintegration into the community and participating in the activities they enjoy. Condition-specific support groups are held at the hospital, allowing patients and caregivers to discuss specific issues with their conditions and create a network of supportive individuals who are facing similar challenges.
