“The most beautiful cosmetic you can wear is healthy skin…” – Jane Iredale

Who is Jane Iredale?
Jane Iredale is the founder and president of Iredale Mineral Cosmetics, but her career began in film, theater, and television. One might assume that a former actress, producer, and writer is not truly qualified to develop a cosmetics line, but the contrary is the reality. After years of working with some of the best makeup artists in the world, she acquired firsthand knowledge of what makeup should do. She realized that makeup should enhance a woman’s natural beauty, not try to alter it. She also witnessed how “bad” cosmetics can create skin conditions and worsen existing ones. So, Jane Iredale decided to do something about the lack of quality, good-for-you cosmetics. She developed a line that was simple and easy to use, multi-functional, and affordable. She was the first to introduce a full line of mineral-based makeup to the aesthetics industry. Not only that, but she was also the first to see the benefits of offering this type of cosmetic to physicians–a makeup that was good for the skin. She has worked with highly experienced plastic surgeons and dermatologists in the development of her line, and she educates consumers and practitioners all over the world on its benefits.

What exactly is mineral makeup?
min·er·al/_min(_)r_l/

Noun: A solid, inorganic substance of natural occurrence

Adjective: Of or denoting a mineral

Mineral cosmetics are made from minerals extracted from nature—like titanium dioxide. The concept of using minerals as a cosmetic product is not a new one. The ancient Greeks used minerals for sun protection and elaborate “painted” body adornments or makeup. These minerals, ground to a very fine consistency, provide excellent protection from the sun. Imagine a mountain, which is made of rock (or minerals). The sun does not penetrate or shine through rock. So it makes perfect sense that finely ground rock applied to the skin will block the sun’s harmful rays. Many of Jane Iredale’s products have an SPF 15, and wearing this makeup in addition to your sunscreen gives you the best defense against the very harmful and aging UVA/UVB rays.

Mineral makeup is known for being non-comedogenic (will not clog pores), and it doesn’t harbor bacteria. This is an added bonus, as the makeup is able to maintain its high quality for a longer period of time without unhealthy or even dangerous preservatives. Mineral cosmetics initially existed primarily in powder form, but with the assistance of new technologies it has evolved to liquid formulations. Examples of some other minerals include iron oxide, mica, and zinc oxide, which have a calming effect on the skin making them beneficial for inflammatory conditions like rosacea and acne.

Why choose Jane Iredale mineral makeup?
Jane Iredale’s Mineral Makeup line is a relatively new “technology.” It is so good that plastic surgeons, dermatologists, and aesthetic nurses recommend it. The top reasons to purchase and use Jane Iredale makeup are: It’s non-comedogenic (will not clog pores), it’s oil-free, there is virtually no risk of allergy or sensitivity (products have undergone FDA-approved lab testing with a zero sensitivity rating), it offers broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection (up to SPF 30), it’s anti-inflammatory (helps calm and soothe), it’s very water resistant, its concentrated pigment provides excellent coverage for skin conditions like acne and rosacea, contains NO PARABENS or FD&C dyes, and it’s never tested on animals (vegan friendly).

The Jane Iredale line is a highly-sophisticated blend of minerals and pigments, micro-pulverized to form microscopic flat particles that overlap on the skin to form a filter, allowing the skin to breathe and function normally while still protecting it from air-borne pollutants. This makeup line is long lasting and rarely requires a touch-up during the day. You can even workout and Jane Iredale makeup will remain the way it was when you first applied it. No creasing, smearing, or “sweating away” even during strenuous exercise.

Acne, Acne go away!
Summer is here, and I want to stay…… blemish free!

June is Acne Awareness Month, so what better time to introduce the new SkinTx Acne Treatment System at MedCOSMETIC™.

We have searched high and low for an at-home acne treatment system that really works. We finally found something we are willing to stand behind—SkinTx Acne Treatment.

SkinTx Acne Treatment is the first 2-step medical grade acne-clearing system that offers products containing a unique combination of three powerful acne-fighting ingredients. It’s easy, it’s effective, and it’s affordable.

It’s bad enough having acne blemishes in the first place, but add to that a complicated and time consuming cleansing and treatment regimen and, well, we are practically doomed to living a life with acne. But NO more! With the SkinTx 2-step system, you can breathe a sigh of relief.

How SkinTx Works
STEP 1—Use the Medicated Acne Wash to cleanse your skin. This all-in-one antimicrobial cleanser and toner, with 2% pharmaceutical grade (USP) salicylic acid and hexamidine, does a number on propionibacterium acnes (a.k.a. acne bacteria). It works by making it difficult for the bacteria to thrive on your skin’s natural oils on the surface of your skin and in your pores by thoroughly cleansing and gently exfoliating.

STEP 2—Apply the Acne Treatment Lotion. It’s a 5% pharmaceutical grade (USP) benzoyl peroxide. Acne bacterium hates benzoyl peroxide. Why? Because acne bacterium is anaerobic—it hates oxygen. Benzoyl peroxide delivers oxygen deep into your pores effectively suffocating the little critters with oxygen (pardon the oxymoron).
